Carmen

an Arty Day アートな日

ライブの様子はYoutube.comで見れます。

Meet People

I'm getting better naturally. This morning, I organized Halloween & Trial Lesson for 3 boys.  I really appreciate their participation. It is because I got energy from them.  Though I sometimes feel it hard. about a Film...

This film was released in '70s. Regard as Circumference

For example, you were running around a circle. At first, its diameter was quite small. So you could run only short distance.  It was quite easy to run, but it could have been boring. But little by little, the diameter was getting longer as technology was advanced. So what happened to you was that you had to run longer distance and longer time. In fact, the diameter was the time when it was saved due to advanced technology.  It might have been good, because it could have made you to save time. That is, workload is proportion to the time saved by technology.

"Sleep"makes me think something...

This story is one of the collection of "TV People" of his work.  It must be worth reading, I'm sure. The story is like, one day, a house wife suddenly lost her sleep without any reasons. Thinking of TV People...

69 sixty-nine

the Year of 19(Q)84

Image
I've been reading 1984 and 1Q84. Both are interesting, but as for 1984, the author George Orwell wrote it in 1949. That's why he regarded the time as the future cosmopolitan. There is something hard to accept such a modern concept of 1984 for me, because it is past already. That is what I am thinking of the story. In 1984, it developed but not enough. Instead of CDs, there were records or cassette tapes. No mobile phones, no computers at home, but still I could have a wonderful time. If such analogy life came back, it would be nice. It might be a bit awkward but I could feel more humanity. The music was popular around 1984. That's still cool, isn't it!

She, who is a librarian in a small town, is now crazy about reading books. She was not able to read such amount of books when she was a student. Everything was just routine, but she managed to handle all her duties including studying at school. Nobody knew what she had such feelings, which she couldn't enjoy things from the bottom of her heart. However, one day, strong wind, gale blew her away and something got off from her shoulders. And then, suddenly everything totally changed in her life. It meant that she recovered from her matter. On top of that, she has had a quick mind. Not only that, she began to be interested in art, sports or reading. Realising that there are so many beautiful things in this world, she hopped and said aloud, "What a beautiful world!" As if she tried to make up for the lost time in her school days. Now finally it is time to come to wake up and have meaning of living for her in this world.

I saw a movie tilted "American Beauty".  It was quite good, described "ordinary" family of the USA with irony.  The family in the movie seemed to be compared to the county of USA, which has had problems such as drugs, human relationships, homosexuals or guns.  Lester (a main character) has empty in his life, just like dead. And then he suddenly woke up looking at his daughter's friend. 。。 However, I can not get it very much, because he must have been more responsibility for his family, especially his daughter as a father.  ..... For me, I feel that he looks centre-minded...  I don't know... but it may be right.....  if you have your own family or if you become a father or mother, you should be responsibility and sometimes, you may ...

New Friends

Now I have new friends in my workplace. Their names are, Hana, Suzu and Yuna. However, they are too much younger than me - 5 years old. Just look back on 2 weeks ago....  at the community center in which I teach English to my students. Hana, who learnt calligraphy upstairs,  talked to me from the behind, "Are you a teacher?" I said, "Yes, I am." "I want to learn English....." "OK, you can come to me before my lesson starts." And then, she brought her friends to my room.  That is the beginning between Hana and me. However, Hana is a just 5 year old girl whose mother doesn't allow her to learn English at the moment.  Yes, I understand, because English is not our mother tongue.  These kind of girls should learn mother tongue before starting the second language. Today, I read "Underground" (Harumi Murakami). It was quite serious, written about an incident happened to undergrounds (subways) in Tokyo in 1995.  Many people became victims and were suffered from chemical. In the book, the author interviewed 60 victims.  When the incident happened, I was still young and just like medias did, I regarded murderers as just evils. But as I got older, I changed my mind little by little. My favourite book is "an Old Man and the Sea".  I don't know why, but it is my favourite book.  The old man represents a human's life.  One day, you will be an old man or woman, and will not be able to live without other's help.  At that time, you will realise that you got old.  In the story, the old man tried to catch a big fish, he tried and tried and never gave up. My Memories in Vietnam

My Vietnamese friend and I organized the workshop for my pupils yesterday.  The theme was about Vietnam, where is so rapidly developing just like Japanese 60s. On the other hand, talking about my country-Japan, there are lots of problems including natural disaster, the accidents of nuclear power plants, economic recession and etc. When I went to Ho Chi Ming city in 2007, I recalled the old vivid days of Japan because whole town was so vibrant enough.  I felt people's energy through noisy car horns on the streets.  There is a fact that there were no multinational fast food chain restaurants or cafes excluding only one KFC.  (I don't know why they have only a KFC....) Their brave or strong mind made me so encouraged. I wish Vietnam will have kept their policy forever. Yesterday, I could have the same feeling as 2007. One and half months have passed since I quit (or was laid off ) the school jobs. However, I do not feel bad because sometimes it happens to you if you are a just part time teacher. So now I have to go to bed...  Good night!

Image
Please listen to the music below. What reminds you of through this music? For me, "to Clean Up". It is because I used to listen to this music while we were cleaning up our elementary school every day. The music was kind of a symbol in our school, members of the broadcasting committee played this music during the clean-up time almost every day. I am not sure if you have cleaned up your school when you were a pupil. In Japan, in almost all of the schools, pupils clean up after eating lunch. If you were eating lunch slowly (because maybe you hated carrots or some other vegetables.. but you must have eat all of them. ), other pupils would start cleaning, wiping and washing the windows, floors... So you would have to eat lunch in a dusty place. And then, you would get sad and start sobbing.... hahaha... maybe it might be shame because the music has still stuck to my ears. So, it is like "Mozart = Clean-Up"... When I hear this music, I get the feelings...

May I ask you a favour?

I just realised that more people in overseas read my blog when I wrote it in English. That's good for me because I could share my thoughts or ideas with the people who lives over miles away from here, in Japan. Today, I would like to ask you a favour, if you check this blog quite often, please click "Follow" on the bottom of this page. I would like to get more friends in all over the world.  In fact, I have some experience to make friends through skype, MSN, icq and Facebook.  And then, some of them visited me here in Japan and also I have visited them.   Still, I keep such great friendships with those people from Hong-Kong, Australia, Ireland, USA, UK and Sweden.  I have used such communication systems for over 5 years. At first, I used it to improve my English. It was amazing that I could do it! One day, I had my thesis proofread from my friend in LA. That's great, isn't!  2 months ago, we got a massive earthquake in Japan, at that time, almost all of...

family roots ~ルーツ~

Image
My family name came from Buddhism temple, however my family name was Mizutani before we got a new name. Called 'Kasuga' in Japanese, it could be hard to catch the right pronunciation on the phone.  One day, I got a parcel written 'Katsura' instead of 'Kasuga' at the office.  That was an embarrassing for me it was because Katrusa means a wig in Japanese.  My colleagues were all laughing or giggling at me.  That's why I was not happy with this name and then, I translated it into English.  When it is translated, it is much better because it might sound better, Spring-Day than Kasuga.  So I use this.  Even my father does. When I invited my friend from Ireland, my father introduced himself like this, "How do you do? I'm Spring Day." Anyway, I just found out our name Kasuga was deeply related to Buddhism. One day, our ancestor was adopted by the Buddhism temple whose family name was Kasuga. So the name has kind of spiritually and religiously import...

Live Music

Today, I went to the event where some people sold their art works and had live concerts. Some of them were really good musicians, including my brother in low. Anyway, one of the Jazz singers is great to have wonderful high voices. 。。 For me, as I teach English to pupils. I sing some English songs when I practice English. It might be strange that I sing songs with singers on youtube. Or I actually sing songs in a Karaoke room. When I sing Eagles' song, I choose "Hotel California". It...

Sakura Apartment Building ~

Image
Look at the pics! Those are the flat called Sakura Apartment. (Sakura means cherry blossom.) It is a very rare style apartment in a modern city like Nagoya. It was built around '67 or '68. At that time, this kind of building was popular here. But time passed, its style changed into more modern ways. However, Sakura Apartment keeps its own 'late '60s style. In fact, the residences love this apartment very much, and never move anywhere. They have lived here for over 3 decades. There is a big park where people do thaichi and then, a parking lot. There ar...

the Showa ~昭和~

Image
(と言いつつも、台風や豪雨にも耐えてきたからね) I'll show you some pictures which might remind you of Showa (it is the name of era in Japan, around '30s - late 80s, but I focus on '70s right now). My house is part of the flat called 'Sakura apartment', which my grandparents built in the late '60s. There is a poster of Hepburn on the door of which degsin is represent of Showa. And then, the light in the kitchen is also a Showa style. And the glass... which actually I have used since I was 3 years old. And the broom ... Next time, I'll show you 'Sakura' apartment, which is a...

Keep My Finger Crossed

During Golden Week Holidays, I had a meeting for strategies (alone) in the community centre. And there, I had nice talk about teaching methods for kids with a lady who was working. She has taught *Koto for 20 or no.. 30 years before. * Koto is a traditional Japanese instrument. When she taught the Koto to kids, she said to them, "Could I try making a scary sound?" And then, she made lower sounds with the Koto, " Jaaaaan ". And next, she said to them, "Could I try making a comfortable sounds?" she played higher sounds with a bit rhythms with the Koto, " Jaa, Jaa, Jaaaaan)))))) ". At that time, the kids opened their eyes widely and showed their curiosities. An...

Today, I saw a doctor for diagnosis . I was thinking of the story (yesterday I mentioned the book) in the waiting room. In the story, Strickland found the right place... If you stayed at the wrong place, you would be struggled too much. In his case, he had looked like an odd or mad person. It was just because he had been in the wrong place. ("the Moon and the Sixpence" by William Somerset Maugham ) 自分に合う場所・・・。 For me, where is the right place? I regarded here was the right place, but it must be hard for me to catch up with such a high speed development in the society. And I couldn't catch up with such a speed, I got broken my health, thyroid. It was just more t...

the Season of Reading

I've finished reading a book, the Moon and the Sixpence, which is really really interesting. However, I do not feel like talking with anybody right now. It is just because I was so inspired by the story or the character called Charles Strickland. From the point of view of me (a woman), he is a monster or not like a human, but he could be really human, because he or his talent was struggle with such a greasy capitalistic society and then, resulted in living in Tahiti, which people have free of mind and are more open minded. Probably it would be more suitable for him. Anyway, I will think about who he is or what the capitalistic society is or etc.... and will be back to this topic next time.

Golden Week Holidays!

In Japan, we have Golden Week Holidays every year around this time. Talking about Holidays, I always remember this song Holiday. When I was a high school student, I heard the song from other student's walkman in the lift. It was the right time to hear the song around the time in Golden Week Holidays. "Why am I here (the study room), just sitting at the desk?" Soon, I popped out to the big park in my neighbourhood, where there was a big rock concert. I still remember that. So what am I going to do for GW this year? By the way, Madonna is so cute in this film, isn't she? And the, the fashion, it is 80s one, but now it is popular. Still ...

When she was clearing things up in the desk, she found a cassette tape which she used to listen to. The title of the song is "Please Mr. Postman" by Carpenters. She just listened just because she liked its rhythms. However, she found it was really a pretty song. The song .... expressing a girl's emotion which she had been waiting for a letter or a card from her boy friend far away. "It reminds me of my memory... a Piano Woman ピアノウーマン

It is the 5 th day after I started piano lessons. I play monotonous sound without any rhythm s. But it was my choice to play such boring tunes for the foundation. The tune is titled "Let's Begin" in the textbook. It suggests "Play this with pleasure or amusement". I tried to express pleasure or amusement, but it did not sound like that. Maybe I really do not understand what Pleasure or Amusement is. According to the dictionary, "The state or feeling of being pleased or gratified. A source of enjoyment or delight:" う~ん、最近、こういう想いをしていないからかな? Hum.... I am wondering if I have such feelings or not for these days... It should be t...

Afternoon Tea

Jasmin with Gingers ショウガ入りジャスミン茶 Pineapple Flavoured Tea パイナップル風味のお茶 Green Tea 緑茶 Coffee コーヒー Camomile Tea カモミール茶 a Glass of Water 水 this was all I drank for Afternoon Tea in Royal Host (Roy-Ho) today. The system is called "Drink Bar" there. If you order "Drink Bar", you can get whichever you want without any limitation. In that case, I get too much more drinks than I usually have. It seems stingy but I do not care about it, because nothing is better than you can get many your favourite drinks for reasonable prices. Go go go to Roy-Ho, HO, HO, HO!

Nothing Important..

I just remember one thing but it is not so important of my life. However, I would like to share this thing with you. Just listen to the song carefully, especially the last part... You may hear a Japanese word, "Gomen nasai". It has no make sense to say "Gomen nasai" here. But you can hear the word, don't you! I have told this to some of my friends though... But I would like to share this with YOU! 。。 Just like "Bocchan"...

Have you ever read "Bocchan" before? Talking of Soseki Natsume, it is "Kokoro" for me though. When I was 17, I read it in a Japanese textbook. But it wasn't described till end. I was wondering what the conclusion was. So I read the paperback before the night when I would take a test. However, I still remember how I was shocked at the conclusion. Talking of Natsume Soseki, he went to London to study and got heavy homesick. It was just like me 10 years ago. We, Soseki (Bocchan) and I have several common things. Think of Working... 。。

"No, no, no.... that's is silly!!" Think of this seriously, there are many opportunities to get to know different worlds. Just be humble and patient till you would find the timing you would back to your profession. And then, gradually you could become proud of yourself because you were so modest. Actually I've facing this kind of situation at the moment... and say to myself this every day!! ...

think of LOVE... 。。

A story is like this... There used to be lovers who seemed to have quite good relationships. journalists and fiction writers

I am thinking what different from journalism and writing fiction are. Journalism is written by realities. Writing fiction is written by imagination. The former is not necessary with emotion or feelings, just write the facts. But it might be included tragedies. Nevertheless, you have to stay quiet. On the other hand, the latter is necessary with emotion or feelings, sometimes it might have passion. Now if I had an opportunity to choose which way, I would choose writing fiction, because I could share sadness or happiness with others with love. It means that I am honest which I cry, shout, express myself from the bottom of my heart. That is - I am a really human.

I've been so excited to meet new people in this week. On Tuesday, I met a new friend from Brazil, who is much younger than me, but she is so independent. I could learn many things from her. We talked about books which we have read, life, jobs, dreams.... so many things. And today, I met a Spanish journalist who came to Japan to write articles about the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plants. Actually I worked for him as a translator. We had some interview with the people in Toyota. As it was first time for me to work with a journalist, it was so exciting. We asked people without any arrangement, but they answered us friendly. However, I did not expect that I got to know these two people.
