from the book which teaches me life

I admire “King Lear” by William Shakespeare. (1.1)

Lear : To thee and thine hereditary ever
Remain this ample third of our fair kingdom;
No less in space, validity, and pleasure,
Than that conferr’d on Goneril. – Now, our joy, Although our last and least ; to whose young love The vines of France and milk of Burgundy
Strive to be interess’d ; what can you say to draw
A third more opulent than your sisters? Speak.
Cordelia. Nothing!
Lear. Nothing!
Cordelia Nothing.
Lear. Nothing will come of nothing. Speak again. Cordelia. Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave

My heart into my mouth. I love your Mejesty According to my bond; no more nor less.
Q: What I learned from this?
A: I learned what human beings are. Lear has three daughters, however, two of whom are not really dedicated to him. Instead, they rely on his property. On the other hand, Cordelia, who is the youngest daughter, shows true love to him. “Nothing” is the keyword of this story. The two oldest sisters are materialistic. Corderia would like to have “nothing” material, however, she wishes for true love. When Lear loses everything, we can see only a shabby feeble old man. Reading this thought provoking story, it gave me great impact which stuck to my mind. “What are human beings?”
