short trip to Yokohama & Tokyo
A film written & directed by John Willams made me short trip to Yokohama. The tittle is "Ichiban Utsukushii Natsu". I had no knowledge about the story till I watched it. The story, however, was about the girl in Nagoya, which I live in right now.
I have seen John's work "Sado Tempest" before, of which theme is different, but both of the films caught my heart.
In this time, "Ichiban Utsukushii Natsu", which reminds me of my chanoyu master. I wasn't like the main character Naomi in terms of public morals (I never smoked or drank), but I was struggling with what I really wanted to do when I was in a junior high. I think I might have been kind of loneliness. This may be shared with Naomi. In the film, Naomi is getting to share her loneliness and even secret with an old lady Ms. Koide. The scenery of country side is also beautiful but not only that, the human touched story is more beautiful. This poignant movie, I absolutley recomend you to see.
After watching the movie, there was a party with the director, actors and audience. A lovely time, I really felt happy and appreciate this opportunity. Thank you!

The following day, I was hanging round in Ginza, Tokyo. In Ginza Mitsukoshi, there was an event about Japanese traditional fashion. The theme was Kimono & Lifestyle, new style of kimono, "Wa wo fukusuru". I wrote about kimono in my essay this summer. Traditional style of kimono might feel a little bit clumsy. Therefore, "matohu", of which design is modern, however, somehow it remains traditional kimono. Matohu (まとふ)is a Japanese word, which means "wrap" or "wear". It is also "form into a batch" or "unify". Mr. Horihata, a designer of matohu, said, "We have a dream which we will work with young artist in other countries supporting their business." He added, "It must take time though, I would like to try." Hearing this, I remembered one thing which I had written about globalisation with Japanese culture. My globalisation, however, never tries to occupy or control anything. I wish to cooperate each other. For example, today's event, there was also tea ceremony.
I was lucky to have matcha. Actually only two people were selected. As I won "janken" (rock, sisters and paper), I got the right to have it. Anyway, the ceremony was very unique enough. It was different from traditional ceremony. First, the guests and a host were sitting in chairs. Secondly, a teaspoon was kind of vintage from Africa. A container called Natsume was one from France. It made my jaw dropped. However, I like them a lot! That is what I was thinking of my globalisation. On the top of the lid of Natsume, there was a tiny bird made of silver. It was made by a Japanese young artist. Their concept, to support young artists could be seen in there. It seems small dedication, but actually it is big dedication.
