Book Event
A new school year started and I'm in charge of the final year students. Most of them are taking exams to move to next step which is senior high school. I have got huge responsibilities for their future. I know I must be busy with my school work, but I really wanted to join the book event in Tokyo.
In the event, there were 3 university students from Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Fukushima. And also there was a poet whose name is Arthur. I am very interested in their speeches. If you know about Japan, Japanese history, what happened to Japan, you will guess the topic of this event. Because when it comes to Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Fukushima, they have suffered from nuclear.
Atomic bomb was dropped 70 years ago. But still, its story has lasted, never end. Arthur pointed out very interesting thing. He found out that people in Hiroshima use the word "pika(don)" instead of using atomic bomb. It means that they saw sparkling lights when bomb fell from the sky, they were in the bottom and looked up the sky. Pika is regarded as sparkling of lights in Japanese. On the other hand, when you use the word, "atomic bomb", you look down the bottom from the above.
Depends on where you are standing, meanings of the words are changing. If you standing on the side of people in Hiroshima, you would use "pika(don)", but if you are staring on the other side, you would use "atomic bomb". It's up to you. But for me, I would like to use "pika(don)" just like Arthur said. Because I do NOT simply like to see or hear innocent people being hurt or suffering. I am not the person who takes advantages of others, but I am the person who dedicate people more even if I am betrayed. That was what I discovered myself yesterday.
The book is consisted of several famous people such as Ryuichi Sakamoto and university students. Also there are some photos which inspire you. If you are interested in the book, please check out this site, but the book is written in Japanese.
