Lunch

Image
This is my today's lunch. After working, I had this in a restaurant in a shopping mall near my workplace. This is a very unique pancake. Vegetables and  slices of ham with pancake. It is very good! Pancakes are sweet but the combination with vegetables and ham matches sweetness of the pancakes. Anyway, in the restaurant, I was reading my classmates' essays and writing some comments. I also read my classmates' comments to my essay. To my surprise, they were interested in what I didn't expected. The part which they got interested in is just introduction. So I didn't describe it deeply, but they want to know exactly that part more.  So it means that I have to share my dark side of my life with them. But it is good. Because now they are becoming to closer to me as good friends even though I haven't met them in person. When I finish eating, reading and writing, I closed my laptop and then, paid the bill and was about to get change, a young cashier (he was...

the Writing Course

I woke up at around 6 am.  But I couldn't sleep but I don't think I got insomnia, but I was excited.  Just because I would like to read my classmates' essays and their comments about my essay.  English is never my mother tongue, but I've been trying to write things with my words in English.  Yes, I would like to do it with my mother tongue, Japanese. But so far, I keep writing English, because it has power to bring me many chances to meet people. I didn't expect that I would become to love to read others' essays. But now I really like it.  Before I joined the course, I had felt dull and sleepy. But since I started the course, something like switch have been turned on my mind.  Wow... it is amazing.  It's Friday today, instead just killing time and doing nothing in a cafe, I'll do read my classmates essays and rewrite my essay which my classmates gave me comments and advice.

What is Globalisation?

I enrolled the writing course based in NYC. But my course is online. I am writing essays. What made me to write? Because I want to speak out my opinions. Here, in Japan, we don't say our opinions so often. Maybe writing essays in English is easier for me. I can communicate and read English but not perfect.  So I decided to have someone proofread my essays. Thanks to my brilliant proofreader, I can focus on thinking over ideas of essays more.

my writing about my relatives overseas

What if communication might be possible without languages? Do you agree or disagree? I agree with that. When I was 3, my relatives came from California. It happened in 1972 or 1973. The time was when Japanese industries were rapidly developing. We welcomed our American relatives and had a big dinner on the top of the 70s stylish restaurant. I can tell what it was like from some photos. I was sitting next to my mom wearing favorite dress. I am not sure exact when my relatives had immigrated to the USA from Japan. But I can say that it was long time ago. The people who visited us from California were second and third generation of Japanese American. As I mentioned just before, in the time of 70s, Japan was still under development. So we had a dream to catch up with the USA, which was more advanced, more fashionable, cooler, richer, or whatever. I loved watching Sesame Street on TV when I was a child. It was amazing because I could see variety of people and felt friendly to them...

Anniversary!

I spent my birthday in Tokyo. My friend and her husband came to Japan from the UK and took me to a fantastic restaurant and gave me wonderful birthday presents!! I will never ever forget this birthday! Thank you!!! After lunch, my friend suggested that we go to a nail salon. In fact, it was first time for me to go there, or even decorating my nails. In fact I didn't like my fingers which look strong and bony not like feminine. So I didn't take care of my nails at all except for cutting. But thanks to my friend, as I was observing the nail artist's dedicating work, I came to realize that  I must...
